The Cleveland International Piano Competition

Rules and Regulations

  1. All applicants must be residing in the United States for the 2011/12 academic year.
     
  2. All applicants must be ages 12 -18.
     
  3. All works must be played from memory.
     
  4. No substitution of works is permitted.  The works listed on the application form must be performed.
     
  5. The six finalists will repeat the same repertoire for the auditions in the Final Round on April 28.
     
  6. The decision of the jury is final with no appeal.
     
  7. All contestants will receive a certificate and comment sheet following the competition.
     
  8. Candidates will not engage in discussions with jury members until after decisions are reached.
     
  9. All announced prizes will be awarded.
     
  10. Any jury member who currently teaches a candidate will abstain from voting for that candidate.
     
  11. The CIPC will make every effort to schedule each contestant at the location and time preferred for the qualifying round.  Officials reserve the right, however, to assign contestants in order to balance the number and order of performers at each location.
     
  12. If unexpected situations arise in the execution of these guidelines, the Jury Chair and CIPC officials reserve the right to resolve such situations.
