The Cleveland International Piano Competition

INTRODUCING CIPC YOUNG ARTISTS

CIPC Young Artists is a competition for pianists ages 12 through 18 who are residents of the United States.  The Cleveland International Piano Competition preents the program, which has its roots in the organization's high school competition known as PIANO/OHIO. Juried auditions will be held at two locations in March 2012.  Six finalists will be selected, three each in the Junior Artist and Young Artist age groups.

Junior Artists, Age 12 to 15
Students must be age 12 on or before March 17, 2012 and may not turn 16 before April 29, 2012

Young Artists, Age 16 to 18
Students must be age 16 on or before March 17, 2012 and may not turn 19 before April 29, 2012

The final round will be held on April 28, 2012 in Drinko Hall at Cleveland State University.  It will be open to the republic and broadcast on WCLV 104.9 FM in Cleveland.
 

APPLICATION PROCESS

DEADLINES AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION

Applications must be postmarked or, in the case of electronic submissions, dated no later than February 1, 2012.

PRIZES

Prizes for the six finalists include the following:

  • Cash awards for each age group:  $750 first prize; $500 second prize; $250 third prize
  • A master class with a member of the jury at the 2013 Cleveland International Piano Competition
  • An appearance in the CIPC Young Artists Winner's Showcase Recital during the 2013 CIPC
  • The six finalists also will be invited to dinner at Drinko Hall with the jury following the Final Round on April 28, 2012.  Each finalist will have an opportunity to speak with each member of the jury about his or her performance.
